Identity and composition are separate questions

Mass spectrometry can support an expected molecular identity. Chromatography separates components under defined conditions. The method, detector and integration approach influence a reported chromatographic purity value.

Purity is not net peptide content

Water and counterions can contribute to the gross amount of a preparation. A chromatographic percentage does not directly quantify the peptide share of the weighed material. Use the appropriate reported attribute for the calculation or assay.

Read the scope of testing

Do not infer sterility, absence of endotoxin or suitability for a particular experiment from identity or HPLC results alone. Look for the tests, methods and acceptance criteria that address your question.

Connect documentation to the lot

The useful document is the one that corresponds to the actual sample. Retain its identifier and report alongside receiving and handling records.
